Our driving programs are designed to meet the needs of various drivers, from the novice driver to the expert driver. From the senior driver to a teen with a learning difficulty or other special needs. Road Rules provides a more effective approach toward automobile safety by increasing the performance level of drivers of all ages and vehicle uses. This is done by increasing the awareness, skills, and overall personal confidence of each client; by developing more appropriate attitudes and mentalities towards driving; and by establishing a higher level of pure driving enjoyment. But before you begin to drive, remember that driving is a privilege, not a right, and that you should learn how to be a responsible driver before you put your keys in the ignition.

You only choose a driving school once. It is a very important choice because you are exposing you or your child to New Jersey's treacherous roads. This is one of those times when you as a parent are placing your child in someone else's care. When it comes to deciding whether or not to enroll in Road Rules Driving School you must weigh the options. We go to great lengths to ensure that we are the best option available for you and your child by choosing the best Instructors and provide them with extensive training. We put them in superior vehicles that are unparalleled in the industry. At Road Rules Driving School we understand the gravity of choosing where to send your child for their driving education. We understand that there are many factors that need to be considered and that each family has a unique set of circumstances. Over the years we often hear the same two questions: "How much do you charge?" and "How soon can we start?" While these are relevant questions, they should NOT be the only two that are asked before committing your child to a program. Training your child for much more than passing their test and instilling in them the sense of responsibility that comes with driving is what we aim to accomplish with each student.

As keeping your child safe and teaching them to keep themselves safe is our focus, it is reasonable to assume that students graduating from our schools would leave "safe" drivers. We strive to break bad habits, keep new ones from forming, enlighten teens as to how quickly things can go wrong behind the wheel, what to do in those emergency situations as well as the dangers of driving impaired. While we have had great success and our proud of our alumni, the job of keeping your teen safe on the road is not done after they graduate. You cannot choose to drive safely if you have not been taught how to, but it's still a choice each teen has to make for themselves.

We our adept at helping teens take that next big mature step required for handling the stress and challenges of driving an automobile. Teen drivers are, by default though, inexperienced and more likely to partake in risky driving behaviors. We at Road Rules Driving School recommend upon graduation that parents drive a minimum of 100 hours with their children. These hours should not be used just to determine the teen’s readiness to pass the driver's test, but they should be used to assess the techniques, good driving habits and regularity of safe practices. The parents should also be observant of the teen’s emotional and mature readiness to start driving without the guidance of an adult in the vehicle.

Professional instructors provide comprehensive training that addresses the common mistakes made by new drivers.
Our school's patient and professional way of teaching is crucial to the new student. We have a unique way of identifying each student's difficulties and customizing specific exercises to get you driving your absolute best. A structured classroom and behind the wheel instruction are the essential first steps in preparing new drivers. The cognitive skills required for driving are strongly interlaced with fine motor skills. Driving requires: co-ordination, analysis of the street and highway environment, good shape perception, visual-spatial awareness & analysis, visual and selective attention skills, awareness and monitoring of the traffic patterns and situations, & executive functions. Road Rules Driving School will provide education and supervised instruction on the fundamental skills of driving, and much more.

Driver education is important to laying the foundation for your teen to become a safe driver. You, as a parent, may be an exceptional driver, but not the best teacher for your child. Parental involvement in driver education is crucial. The six hours of behind the wheel instruction a new driver receives falls short of the amount of time actually needed to learn to drive on today's roads and highways. Parents must form a partnership with the driver training instructor to build upon the foundation provided in a six-hour program. Practice driving remains an important part of learning to drive. It is recommended that parents practice with their child soon after professional training lessons to reinforce what was taught and to be prepared for the next lesson.

Will I pass the driving exam for my license on my first attempt? One of the obvious benefits of most driver education courses is the increased likelihood that your teen will pass the driver's test on their first attempt. In fact, most schools advertise this as their primary focus and the main reason for taking a driver's education program. Road Rules Driving School does not differ in the sense that we do thoroughly prepare each student for their eventual driver's test. What sets us apart is where we set the primary focus of your child's education. In order to obtain your license you must pass a driving skill test. Although the test is thorough, it cannot possibly scratch the surface of what your child will face behind the wheel of a car in just their teen years alone.

Our Cars
One of the key elements that separate Road Rules from all other driving schools is our vehicles. We do not take the decision of what car to use lightly. We have done our research and test driven many vehicles. We do not take price into account when making or selection because we feel that Safety is a far greater concern. If we don't feel safe in the vehicle then we wouldn't consider putting your child in it. After careful consideration Road Rules Driving School has chosen to use specific vehicles for all our behind the wheel instruction. Aside from the additions that we make to the cars, they have outstanding safety features of its own, including seven air bags: an advanced airbag system for the driver and front-passenger, front and rear side curtain airbags; front seat-mounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger; and a driver's-knee airbag. All of our cars are dealer maintained from the day they are purchased to the day they are retired. This assures that only quality parts and services are provided, guarantying the absolute safest vehicle for the instructors and the student. These added expenses for us adds up to the best quality available to you.

Once we have selected our vehicle we go to great lengths, far beyond what any other driving school will do, to make it the safest vehicle for learning. Our cars are superior to all other driving school cars. We have added our own Road Rules custom design dual-control system. Our outside design has used reflective material making driving at dawn more visible, and are the pioneer of this design and thought! All cars also have a dual mirror installed to give the instructors a view of behind the car so they can assist the student with lane changes and merging techniques. Our entire fleet is also equipped with cellular phones and Blue Tooth technology so that our office is able to communicate with both instructor and student. This also enables the instructor to notify you if a lesson is running late so you will not be panicked if your child is not home on time.

My name is Yvette, and I live in Elizabeth. I have a daughter whom is deaf, and recently obtained her drivers permit. I have never seen her so happy. She was excited because she has something regular kids her age have, a permit. That happiness was about to change. It was time to find a driving instructor for her. I searched high and low and called every driving school in the Union, Essex, Middlesex, and Bergen County area. All of the schools refused to teach her how to drive because she was deaf. I was so upset and hurt, because they were not even willing to give her a chance. I didn't have the heart to tell my daughter so I kept lying telling her, I was waiting for call backs. Well as luck would have it one day at DMV someone I know there introduced me to a driving instructor. We started talking and I explained my situation. Without hesitation he was willing to teach my daughter how to drive. Later that week I arranged to have him come and meet my daughter. As luck would have it she took to him well that he took her driving. When she came home and he left she was like a kid in a candy store. I have never seen her fingers move so fast in sign language to tell me how it went. I could tell I found the right person and the right driving school. My daughter bugs me every day to call or email him so she can drive. She enjoys her time with him. She says he is very calm and relaxed and he makes driving fun. She said he doesn't treat like a Deaf person; he treats her like a person. That right there was the highlight that made me cry....The driving school is ROAD RULES DRIVING SCHOOLand the instructors name is MIKE..

If you or anyone you know with a (any) disability, before you drive yourself crazy searching for a driving school or instructor call him. You will not regret it. I promise you. Between him and his staff you cannot find any better. They will make you feel like family. So remember if you want to learn call ROAD RULES ask for MIKE. If you want to waste your time and money than call someone else.

Mike was extremely professional and courteous during my daughter's driving lesson. For someone who was nervous driving, he made her feel very relaxed and confident. I find now that she is a very confident driver and knows the rules of the road extremely well. I am so thankful that my daughter had such a great instructor! Thanks to Mike I am a little bit more relaxed with the idea of her driving!

I am happy to recommend Mike and Road Rules Driving School. Not only did Mike quickly form a trusting relationship with my daughter and tailor his instruction exactly to her needs, but he went above and beyond driving instruction. He patiently answered all my questions via phone and email, and he even went to the DMV for us to reschedule my daughters road test appointment! He made us both feel confident, welcoming my participation in the process, and his prices are competitive. I will definitely be calling Mike again when my younger daughters are ready to learn to drive.
